In the fifth match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants, the former looking to bounce back from their loss to Delhi Capitals, have made two changes to their line-up. Kamalini Gunalan and Parunika Sisodia have been handed over their debut caps, coming in for Jintimani Kalita and Saika Ishaque respectively.
Kamalini Gunalan
Kamalini, a 16-year-old batting sensation makes her debut for Mumbai Indians. This young Tamil Nadu talent has risen to fame rapidly, finishing as the third-highest run-getter with 143 runs in the 2025 Under-19 T20 Women’s World Cup. Her highest score in the tournament was a crucial 56* in the semi-finals against England, helping India reach the final against South Africa, where they emerged champions.
Previously, she also made her mark in the Under-19 Asia Cup in Malaysia, where she was the third highest leading run scorer with 85 runs in 5 matches and won the Player of the Match award for her 44* off 29 balls against Pakistan. Her skills earned her a 1.6 Crore deal with Mumbai Indians ahead of WPL 2025.
Parunika Sisodia
Another U19 star, Parunika Sisodia makes her debut for Mumbai Indians. The young left arm spinner’s impressive performance in the 2025 Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup caught attention, where she finished as the fourth highest wicket taker with 10 wickets. Her best moments included a Player of the Match award in the semi-finals against England, where she had the bowling figures of 3/21.
Sisodia had also made an impact in the U-19 Asia Cup, taking 9 wickets in 5 matches to finish third among top wicket takers. She has previously featured for Gujarat Giants and was signed by Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement for Pooja Vastrakar for 10 lakhs.
