In a strategic move ahead of the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL), Delhi Capitals have bolstered their squad with some exciting additions during the mini auction in Bengaluru. Prominent signings include two wicketkeeper-batters – Nandini Kashyap and Sarah Bryce, India U19 captain Niki Prasad, and all-rounder N Charani.
Captain Meg Lanning, thrilled with the new squad, said, “I’m very excited for the upcoming edition of WPL. Nandini, Niki, Charani, and Sarah add great depth and exciting talent to our squad. I can’t wait to get started and play in front of our passionate fans.”
Nandini Kashyap: The Rising Star
A standout performer in domestic cricket, Nandini Kashyap has been turning heads with her impressive run tally. Kashyap smashed 247 runs in 7 innings, including an unbeaten 117 in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. She carried her form into the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy, where she accumulated 332 runs from 5 innings with a strike rate of 137.19 and a phenomenal average of 83.
Sarah Bryce: The International Powerhouse
Scotland’s Sarah Bryce brings experience and flair to Delhi’s line-up. With 1,290 runs in 58 T20Is, Bryce has a steady average of 28.66 and a strike rate of 106.52, including four half-centuries and a top score of 67. Her exploits in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) for Sydney Sixers – where she notched up 169 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 123.35 – highlight her ability to shine in competitive leagues.
Niki Prasad: Leading from the Front
Currently captaining India’s U19 team at the ACC U19 Asia Cup in Malaysia, Niki Prasad’s leadership qualities and consistent performances make her one to watch. In the recent Women’s U19 Triangular Series against South Africa, Prasad delivered under pressure with scores of 49 off 31 and 49 off 33, contributing a total of 145 runs in 5 matches.
Reflecting on the moment she was picked, Prasad shared, “I was watching the auction with my teammates, and when I got picked by DC, all of us were very happy. My family is very happy too. I’m really excited to be a part of the same dressing room as the legend Meg Lanning and also Jemimah Rodrigues.”
N Charani: All-Round Talent
Delhi Capitals secured N Charani for INR 55 lakh after an intense bidding war with Mumbai Indians. Charani, a versatile all-rounder, expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m super excited to join the Delhi Capitals this season. I’m looking forward to sharing the dressing room with some of the great players.”
