RCB took on the previous edition’s Finalists Delhi Capitals in this edition of the Women’s Premier League. The Delhi Capitals skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and elected to bat first.
Everything seemed to be going the Delhi Capitals’ way until the 8th over of the first innings as they looked set for a big total. Shafali Verma was going all guns blazing and at the end of the 7th over the score read 64/0.
RCB’s captain Smriti Mandhana brought on the Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux to turn things around and Sophie didn’t disappoint. With the first ball of the spell, she dismissed the well-set Shafali Verma caught on the boundary ropes. Two balls later, she dismissed the in-form Jemimah Rodrigues, rattling the stumps as she tried to sweep. She then went on to get Alice Capsey on the next ball as the English all-rounder tried to lap her over fine leg. She then went on to trap Minnu Mani lbw on 5(3).

Apart from the contributions with the ball, she was pretty handy in the field as she ran out a dangerous-looking Radha Yadav, with a direct hit from the backward point region.

She finished her quota of 4 overs giving away just 20 runs at an economy of just 5 runs per over and ended up with figures of 3/20.
