Royal Challengers Banglore ends their home leg on a high with a comprehensive 23-run victory over the UP Warriorz. Skipper Smriti Mandhana came to the party with the bat scoring her career-best score (80 off 50 balls) in the WPL. Ellyse Perry also smashed her maiden half-century (58 off 37 balls) followed by a power-packed finish by the wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh to propel RCB to the highest total (198/3) in the 2nd edition of the WPL so far, after the UP Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy inserted RCB to bat first after winning the toss in their last match of the season in front of their home crowd at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Ellyse Perry en route to her maiden half-century smashed a cracking six to Deepti Sharma in the 19th over of the 1st innings that went on to break the glass of the Tata Punch car on display.

A very rare moment in WPL.

“The moment of WPL so far. Ellyse Perry breaks car glass!! Perry X Mandhana keeps Chinnaswamy on their feet. It’s a shower of big shots in Bangalore.” Sophie Molineux (4-0-29-2), Sobhana Asha (4-0-29-2), Sophie Devine (4-0-37-2), and Georgia Wareham (4-0-38-2) were the top performers with the ball for RCB.

Chasing a target of 199, the UP Warriorz got off to a flying start, scoring over 10 runs an over in the powerplay before Sophie Devine picked up the wicket of Kiran Navgire to provide the much-needed breakthrough for RCB. Chamari Athapaththu joined skipper Alyssa Healy at the crease and the duo were building along nicely towards the stiff target before a controversial call courtesy of a technology blunder during a DRS call, as a result, Chamari Athapaththu had to make her way back to the pavilion. Potentially a game-changing moment in the run chase as the UP Warriorz eventually ended up on the losing side by 23 runs.

Skipper Alyssa Healy (55 off 38 balls), Deepti Sharma (33 off 22 balls), and Poonam Khemnar (31 off 24 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the UP Warriorz. As far as the bowling unit is concerned, Sophie Ecclestone (4-0-22-1) and Deepti Sharma (4-0-30-1) were the top performers with the ball.
