The league stages of the ongoing 13th edition of the ICC Women’s ODI Cup 2025, came to a timid end as the rain gods took the journey from Colombo to Navi Mumbai, to playing it’s part washing out the final league fixture between India, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Bangladesh, led by skipper Nigar Sultana Joty, in the 2nd game of a rare double-header day in the tournament.

India, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, finally won the toss in the tournament and opted to bowl first. India made as many as three changes: Uma Chetry made her ODI debut, replacing Richa Ghosh; Radha Yadav replaced Sneh Rana; and Kranti Goud was replaced by Amanjot Kaur in the starting 11 for the home side. Sumaiya Akter replaced Fargana Hoque in the starting 11 for Bangladesh.

The rains had their say right from the beginning of the contest, as the overs were reduced to 43 overs per side before being curtailed further to a 27-overs-per-side contest due to the weather interruption. The Bangladeshi batters crawled their way to a total of 119/9 in their quota of 27 overs. The 38-run 4th wicket partnership between Sharmin Akhter (36) and Sobhana Mostary (26) was the highest partnership of their innings.

Every Indian bowler was amongst the wickets; however, the likes of Radha Yadav (6-0-30-3) and Shree Charani (6-0-23-2) stood out with the ball for India. An ankle injury to the regular opening batter, Pratika Rawal, prompted the promotion of Amanjot Kaur (15* off 25 balls) alongside Smriti Mandhana (34* off 27 balls) to open the innings as India stepped out to chase a revised total of 126 in their quota of 27 overs.

The duo got their side off to a positive start with a 57-run opening partnership, into the 9th over of the run chase. However, the heavens opened up yet again, and the persistent nature of the rain ensured that there was no further play possible at the DY Patil Stadium. As a result, the final game of the league stages was washed out, with both sides sharing a point each.
