After a brilliant win against Pakistan at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, the BCCI Women shared a video of the Indian team presenting the fielding medal. Fielding Coach Munish Bali first applauded the team for their performance on the field, ending up with six catches and two run outs.

“Shabbash, girls, well done. Back-to-back wins. 6 catches, 2 run outs, well done,” Bali mentioned.
He then named the three contenders selected for the fielding medal. First was batter Smriti Mandhana, who took two brilliant catches under pressure in the game. Second was skipper Harmanpreet Kaur with one direct hit and one catch. The third and final one was Deepti Sharma.
Wicketkeeper batter Richa Ghosh, who won the fielding medal after India’s opening win against Sri Lanka, then announced the winner and presented it to Deepti. The spinner took three wickets, but it was for her game awareness, running out the Pakistan opener Muneeba Ali.
Player of the Match award (Match 1 v Sri Lanka Women)
In the opening match of the tournament, Deepti Sharma was the Player of the Match for her all-round display with both bat and ball. In the first innings she scored a half-century, 53 runs off 53 balls with a strike rate of 100.00, contributing to India’s total of 269.
Deepti then dominated the field with the ball, taking three wickets in ten overs at an economy of 5.40. The first wicket was the big wicket of the Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu. The next wicket came off Kavisha Dilhari, followed by Anushka Sanjeewani, all key scalps.
Fielding Medal (Match 2 v Pakistan Women)
The second match against Pakistan saw the spinner giving another memorable performance. With the bat, she added 25 runs off 33 balls to India’s tally, at the strike rate of 75.75. Then with the ball, Deepti again took three wickets, in 9 overs, giving away 45 runs at an economy rate of 5.00.
However, it was brilliant run-out that stole the spotlight. Mubeeba was run out in an unusual scenario. The left-hander nudged the ball forward with minimal footwork but missed, and it hit her pads. India appealed for LBW but didn’t go ahead. Thinking the play was dead, Muneeba wandered out of her crease. Deepti Sharma seized the chance and threw to the stumps. Although Muneeba had grounded her bat initially, she lifted it just as the ball hit, and the third umpire ruled her out.
