The Women’s ODI World Cup match between India Women and Pakistan Women played on October 5, 2025, at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, ended with India securing a commanding 88-run victory.

India posted a competitive total of 247 runs, thanks to solid contributions from Harleen Deol and a late flourish by Richa Ghosh, while Pakistan struggled in their chase and were bowled out for 159, falling well short of the target.
India’s innings began with openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal putting on 48 runs, providing a decent platform. However, India struggled to accelerate in the middle overs with the loss of key players including captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who was dismissed cheaply for 19.
Harleen Deol anchored the innings with a patient 46 runs, and Jemimah Rodrigues added crucial support scoring 32. The innings gained momentum in the final overs with Richa Ghosh playing a quickfire unbeaten 35 off 20 balls, lifting India to a respectable total on a slow pitch that offered bowlers some assistance.
Pakistan’s chase got off to a shaky start with early wickets falling, including the dismissal of their captain Fatima Sana for just 2 runs. Pakistan’s batter Sidra Amin was the standout performer with an 81-run innings, the highest individual for Pakistan against India, showing grit and composure to keep Pakistan afloat during the chase.
She also made history by hitting Pakistan’s first-ever six against India in women’s ODIs. However, she lacked substantial support from the other batters, with only Natalia Pervaiz offering some resistance with 33 runs before becoming a target for Indian bowlers.
Indian bowlers, led by Kranti Gaud with figures of 3/20 and Deepti Sharma who took key wickets including that of Pakistan captain, effectively controlled the game during Pakistan’s innings. Sneh Rana also bowled tight spells contributing to building pressure.
Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals, which prevented them from building meaningful partnerships and chasing down the target. The slow surface and some effective swing bowling from Indian pacers made the chase even more difficult for Pakistan.
Ultimately, Pakistan could only manage 159 runs in 42.2 overs before being all out, handing India a comfortable 88-run win. This victory reinforced India’s dominance over Pakistan in women’s ODI cricket, marking their 12th consecutive win against them and moving India to the top of the World Cup points table.
India looks set to continue their campaign strongly, while Pakistan will have to regroup and plan for their upcoming matches in the tournament.
