The 9th edition of the Women’s Twenty20 (T20) World Cup is only a sleep away, scheduled for October 3 to 20, 2024, in the United Arab Emirates. Ten teams, including debutants Scotland, will take center stage at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium across 23 matches in this marquee tournament. Bangladesh ended their 9-match losing streak—comprising a 0-3 defeat to Australia and a 0-5 loss to India on home soil earlier this year, followed by a defeat to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup opener—with consecutive wins against Thailand and Malaysia. However, they once again fell short, losing their Asia Cup semi-final to India, securing only 2 wins in their last 5 matches.
Earlier this year in the UAE, Scotland reached the final of the T20 World Cup qualifier, suffering their only loss to Sri Lanka, and once again fell short against the same team in the final. They’ve won 4 of their last 5 T20Is, with their most recent match played in August 2024.
Head-to-head, Bangladesh holds the advantage with 4 wins from as many games against Scotland heading into the tournament. However, they last played back in 2018 and 2022, and Scotland has since made significant strides, including qualifying for their maiden World Cup.
