ICC launches “Whatever it takes” campaign for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup

The upcoming edition in 2024 is the 9th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The Australian women’s team led by skipper Meg Lanning was crowned as the champions of the tournament for the 6th time in the 8th edition of the tournament in South Africa in 2023.

The hosts, South Africa led by skipper Sune Luus became the first team, men’s or women’s, to make it to the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The upcoming 9th edition of the tournament is now set to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates after being shifted from Bangladesh due to political and social instability.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched the campaign coined “Whatever It Takes” for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to build excitement and anticipation amongst the fans. The T20 World Cup will get underway on 3rd October 2024 and conclude on 20th October 2024. All the matches of the tournament will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

“The ‘Whatever It Takes’ campaign embodies the spirit and objectives of the ICC’s Women’s Cricket Strategy which aims to grow the women’s game by improving its visibility, perception, and awareness for cricket fans around the world,” said the ICC General Manager Clarie Furlong throwing light on the World Cup campaign and the significance of the tagline.

The campaign film depicts the dedication, focus, and relentless pursuit of excellence, defining the world’s best cricketers. The campaign film features the likes of Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, Shafali Verma, and the Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu. The campaign highlights the essence of their journeys.

Burj Khalifa was lit up announcing the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup campaign including the number of teams involved etc. Bangladesh led by skipper Nigar Sultana Joty are all set to face Scotland led by skipper Kathryn Bryce in the curtain raiser of the tournament from 3:30 PM IST. Pakistan led by skipper Fatima Sana are all set to face Sri Lanka led by skipper Chamari Athapaththu in the 2nd game of the opening day of the tournament from 7:30 PM IST at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The Semi-finals will be played on 17th October at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and 18th October 2024 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The final will be played on 20th October 2024 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium from 7:30 PM IST.
