The Blaze Women Crush Durham by 10 Wickets to Win 2026 Women’s T20 Blast Title

The Blaze Women produced a clinical all-round display to outclass Durham Women by 10 wickets in the 2026 Women’s T20 Blast Final at The Oval, completing a flawless chase with 40 balls to spare and lifting the coveted title in emphatic fashion. After opting to field first, The Blaze bowlers worked collectively to restrict Durham to a below-par total despite several useful contributions through the middle order. Their disciplined bowling effort was then perfectly complemented by an unbeaten opening partnership, as Sarah Bryce and Tammy Beaumont chased down the target without losing a wicket, sealing one of the most dominant victories seen in the T20 Blast Women final.

Durham Women began their innings positively with Mady Villiers looking fluent from the outset. She struck three boundaries during her brisk 16 off 13 balls, helping Durham race to 20 runs for the opening wicket. However, captain Hollie Armitage endured a disappointing outing, managing just 0 from 3 deliveries before becoming the first breakthrough. Grace Ballinger provided the initial success as Armitage was caught by Tammy Beaumont, leaving Durham at 1/1 off the fourth ball. Villiers continued attacking briefly alongside Heather Graham, but The Blaze ensured the momentum never shifted completely in Durham’s favour. Villiers departed for 16 after adding another useful stand, falling to Charli Knott with the score on 30/2, while Graham looked determined to rebuild.

Heather Graham emerged as Durham’s standout batter, producing an aggressive 30 off just 23 deliveries, including five crisp boundaries. She stitched together a valuable partnership with Bess Heath, who played a patient knock of 11 from 24 balls, attempting to anchor the innings while Graham attacked. Their stand carried Durham beyond the halfway stage before Kathryn Bryce dismissed Graham, breaking what had become Durham’s most productive partnership. The dismissal at 53/3 shifted the momentum firmly towards The Blaze. Soon afterwards, Kirstie Gordon joined the attack and removed Bess Heath for 11, reducing Durham to 63/4 and increasing the pressure on the remaining batters.

Durham continued searching for acceleration as Mia Rogers contributed 13 from 16 balls, but she too fell after adding only a limited partnership. Gordon struck again to remove Rogers at 73/5, keeping Durham firmly under control. Grace Thompson attempted to inject momentum with 20 off 21 balls, hitting two boundaries before Charli Knott claimed her wicket with the score advancing to 113/6. Emily Windsor played a lively cameo of 20 from only 16 deliveries, striking one boundary and ensuring Durham had something competitive to bowl at in the closing overs. However, Ballinger returned to dismiss Windsor before the finish, while Trudy Johnson was run out for 1 in the penultimate over. Sophia Turner remained unbeaten on 3, guiding Durham to 117/8 in their allotted 20 overs, with three extras contributing to the final score. Although Durham had several batters reaching double figures, the lack of a substantial partnership prevented them from posting a challenging total.

The Blaze’s bowling unit delivered a disciplined performance throughout the innings. Grace Ballinger led the attack superbly with figures of 1 for 22 from four overs, striking early and returning later to remove Emily Windsor. Charli Knott produced another impressive spell, claiming 2 for 25 in four overs, including the important wicket of Mady Villiers and later Grace Thompson. Captain Kirstie Gordon was outstanding through the middle overs, finishing with 3 for 21 in her four-over spell, dismissing Bess Heath, Mia Rogers and keeping Durham from launching in the death overs. Josie Groves maintained pressure despite going wicketless, conceding only 25 runs from four overs, while Kathryn Bryce chipped in with 1 for 13 from two economical overs, accounting for Heather Graham. Charley Phillips also bowled tidily, giving away only eight runs from her two overs without taking a wicket.

Chasing 118 for victory, The Blaze never allowed Durham even the slightest opportunity to fight back. Openers Sarah Bryce and Tammy Beaumont produced a masterclass in calculated aggression, putting together an unbeaten 118-run opening partnership that completely dominated the chase. Bryce played the anchor’s role while still maintaining an excellent strike rate, finishing unbeaten on 53 from 41 balls with eight boundaries. At the other end, Beaumont matched her shot for shot, remaining unbeaten on 54 from just 39 deliveries, smashing seven fours and ensuring the required rate never became an issue. The duo rotated the strike intelligently, punished every loose delivery and steadily dismantled Durham’s bowling attack before completing the chase in only 13.2 overs.

Durham’s bowlers struggled to create any breakthrough as the experienced Blaze opening pair controlled proceedings from start to finish. Lauren Filer bowled with pace but conceded 40 runs in four overs, while Trudy Johnson returned figures of 0 for 17 from two overs. Heather Graham claimed no wicket despite conceding 15 runs in two overs, Mady Villiers was the most economical with 0 for 14 in 2.2 overs, Katie Levick gave away 18 from two overs, and Sophia Turner conceded 12 runs from her solitary over. Despite rotating their bowlers frequently, Durham failed to break the opening stand as Bryce and Beaumont produced a flawless chase.

With a dominant bowling display followed by a commanding unbeaten century partnership, The Blaze Women defeated Durham Women by 10 wickets to win the 2026 Women’s T20 Blast title. The combination of Gordon’s decisive spell, disciplined support from Ballinger, Knott and Bryce with the ball, and the magnificent unbeaten partnership between Sarah Bryce and Tammy Beaumont ensured The Blaze completed a memorable final in comprehensive fashion, capping off the tournament with a championship-winning performance that highlighted both their batting depth and bowling excellence.
