Kayleen Green’s all-round show guides Namibia to a commanding victory
Namibia restricted the Natasha Miles-led Hong Kong to 80/9 in their quota of 20 overs, after skipper Sune Wittmann won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Entebbe Cricket Oval. The Hong Kong top order, Shanzeen Shahzad, skipper Natasha Miles and Mariko Hill got them off to a decent start with 18-run partnerships each for the 1st and the 2nd wicket. However, they kept losing wickets until a 21-run partnership for the 6th wicket between Maryam Bibi and Emma Lai gave them the platform for a decent finish.
Hong Kong were eventually restricted to 80/9 in their quota of 20 overs. Maryam Bibi (17 off 16 balls), skipper Natasha Miles (13 off 29 balls), and wicket-keeper batter Yasmin Daswani (10 off 16 balls), were the only batters to enter the double digits, excluding the extras column (11). Wilka Mwatile (4-1-7-1), Kayleen Green (4-0-14-1), skipper Sune Wittmann (3-0-8-1), and Jurriene Diergaardt (2-0-3-2), were the stars with the ball for Namibia.
Chasing a target of 81, Namibia got over the line with 7 wickets in hand and 37 balls to spare. Mekelaye Mwatile (21* off 21 balls), and Kayleen Green (45* off 43 balls) guided their side over the line with an unbeaten 48-run partnership for the 4th wicket. Alison Siu (4-1-17-2), and Kary Chan (3-0-14-1) were the only wicket-takers with the ball for Hong Kong. Kayleen Green was awarded the Player of the Match for her sensational all-round contributions for her side (45* off 43 balls) with the bat and (4-0-14-1) with the ball.
Musamali, Mutoni, and Nakisuuyi play an instrumental role as Uganda stun Nepal
The home side posted a decent total of 91/5 in their quota of 20 overs, after skipper Janet Mbabazi won the toss and opted to bat first. A crucial 50-run stand for the 3rd wicket between Rita Musamali (38 off 48 balls) and Esther Iloku (22 off 25 balls) propelled them to a total closer to the 100-run mark. Stephani Nampiina (13* off 23 balls) was the only other Ugandan batter to enter into the double digits with the bat.
Riya Sharma (4-0-16-2), and Rubina Chhetry (4-0-14-1), were the stand-out performers with the ball for Nepal, while Ishwori Bist (3-0-15-1), and Puja Mahato (3-0-15-1) played their part with the ball for their side. Chasing a target of 92, courtesy of a lacklustre batting performance, the Indu Barma-led Nepal fell 40 runs short of the target as they were bundled out for 51, with 17 balls to spare.
Kabita Joshi (12 off 27 balls), and skipper Indu Barma (11 off 12 balls) were the only two Nepali batters to enter into the double digits with the bat. Immaculate Nakisuuyi (4-0-10-3), Irene Mutoni (3-0-10-3), Concy Aweko (4-0-14-1), and Sarah Akiteng (4-1-12-0) were the stand-out performers with the ball for Uganda. With those convincing victories, Namibia and Uganda capture the top two spots in the points table with 6 points each in five games.
