In the heart of East Africa, an exciting spectacle awaits cricket enthusiasts as the Women’s Day Cup is set to ignite the passion for the sport among a diverse lineup of teams. From March 8th to 16th, 2025, the picturesque Lakeside Oval in Entebbe, Uganda, will host a thrilling Quadrangular series featuring four dynamic squads, Uganda, Namibia, Nepal, and Hong Kong.

As these nations come together, they will not only showcase their prowess on the field but also celebrate the spirit of women’s cricket, highlighting the growth and determination that define the sport. The Women’s Day Cup is poised to captivate audiences with its unique blend of talent and teamwork, reinforcing the power and beauty of the game in a celebration that extends far beyond the boundaries of the oval.
The hosts Uganda led by skipper Janet Mbabazi were last involved in the Kwibuka Women’s Twenty20 Tournament in May–June 2024. They were the unbeaten team throughout the tournament and as a result, ended up clinching the Kwibuka Women’s Twenty20 Tournament by defeating Cameroon by 95 runs in their last game of the tournament. They have an impressive win percentage of around 62% in the format.
The Namibian Women’s team led by skipper Sune Wittmann were last involved in the bilateral series against Malaysia led by skipper Winifred Duraisingham in December 2024. The visitors Namibia inflicted a dominating whitewash against the hosts Malaysia. They also have an impressive win percentage of 61%, in the T20I format, similar to the hosts, Uganda.
Nepal led by skipper Indu Barma recently hosted a Tri-nation series involving Thailand and the Netherlands in January–February 2025. The Indu Barma-led side were unable to get a victory under their belt in as many as six games in the tri-nation series. The Indu Barma-led side is also having a similar win percentage of around 62% in T20Is.
Hong Kong led by skipper Maryam Bibi were last involved in the Women’s T20 Quadrangular series in Hong Kong involving China, Thailand and Namibia in December 2024. The Maryam Bibi-led side won a couple of games and lost a couple in that series. Hong Kong has a win percentage of 51% in T20I cricket. The Hong Kong squad will be led by Natasha Miles in the upcoming Women’s Day Cup 2025.
Format:
The upcoming Quadrangular series will be played in the T20I format and will follow a double round robin format. The top two teams will be contesting in the final, while the 3rd placed, and the 4th placed team in the points table will be contesting for a third-place finish.
