Team India starts the 2022 World Cup with a big win against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, March 6th. Winning the toss, Team India went out to bat first. Shafali Verma got out for a duck putting India under immediate pressure. Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma had a 92 run partnership.
Deepti Sharma got out for 40 and Smriti Mandhana scored a fine half-century. The middle-order collapsed and team India was reduced to 114 for 6. Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana stepped up and brought back team India into the game. Pooja scored a magnificent 67 and Sneh Rana scored a good unbeaten 53.
Together, they stitched in a 122 run partnership which is the highest 7th wicket in Women’s ODI cricket history. India ended up scoring a good score of 244 for 7 at the end of 50 overs. Nida Dar and Nashra Sandhu to 2 wickets each with Diana Baig, Fatima Sana, and Anam Amin chipping in one wicket each.

Pakistan was lifeless in their batting as they never looked confident in chasing off the target. The run rate was below 3 throughout the match. Openers Sidra Ameen and Javeria Khan gave in a 28 run start. As soon as Javeria got out, the wickets fell at regular intervals. The Indian spinners were having a great time with the ball. Rajeshwari Gayakwad took 4 wickets for 31 runs with Sneh Rana and veteran Jhulan Goswami chipped in with 2 wickets each never allowing Pakistan batters to settle.
Team India bowled out the arch-rivals for 137 and won the match with a big margin of 107 runs. India will go on to play the hosts New Zealand in their 2nd match on Thursday, March 10th at Hamilton.

As team India started the tournament with a big win, here are a few reactions on the Twitter world by fans and former cricketers. Have a look:
This would feel very satisfying considering India were in trouble at 114/6. To win by 107 runs and start the World Cup Campaign with a bang is a splendid effort by @BCCIWomen. 🏏#indvspak 🏆 pic.twitter.com/Y8Bkxa0gWR

Brilliant win for #TeamIndia!
The partnership between Sneh & Pooja got us back in the game when we were 114/6. The best thing the two did was to rotate strike smartly & convert 2s into 3s & didn’t miss out on putting loose deliveries away.
Their mindset helped us win.#INDvPAK pic.twitter.com/BxDLU3yTa9

That was a thrashing, and in grand style.
Pooja Vastrakar with a valiant innings, the ever so reliable Sneh Rana’s great all-round show & Rajeshwari Gayakwad outstanding with the ball.
