India – 603/6d vs South Africa, Chennai, 2024

India posted the highest ever test total in history of women’s Test matches, till date. India chose to bat first and declared their innings at an imposing 603/6 in 115.1 overs against South Africa. Shafali Verma broke records by registering the fastest-ever double hundred in women’s Test cricket, reaching the 200-run mark in 194 balls, before ending up with a remarkable 205 runs, while fellow opener Smriti Mandhana contributed 149 runs.

Further this total was supported by Jemimah’s 55 runs followed by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur adding 69 runs and Richa Ghosh’s innings of 86 runs. South Africa’s bowlers faced a tough challenge, with Delmi Tucker taking 2 wickets. The innings featured strong partnerships and aggressive batting, setting a formidable target for Proteas to chase in their innings.

Australia – 575/9d vs South Africa, Perth, 2024

Australia achieved an incredible feat against South Africa during the Perth Test between 15 to 17 February 2024. Australian batters on home soil dominated South African bowlers and thrashed them all over the ground. In this Test match, Australian put 575/9d in the second innings, where Annabel Sutherland had an impressive showing, playing a magical innings of 210 runs in 256 balls at a strike rate of 82.03. Alyssa Healy also made an important contribution, scoring 99 runs in 124 balls but unfortunately missed out on a century by just one run. As a result, Australia managed to win the match by an innings and 284 runs.

In 1998, during Australia’s tour of England, the visitors made an incredible record of scoring 569/6d in the second innings in Guildford. This Test was played between 06 to 09 August 1998, where Joanne Broadbent played a magical innings of 200 runs in 476 balls. Mel Jones’ innings of 131 runs in 240 balls also helped Australia achieve this incredible feat. However, the game ended in a draw.

Australia on their tour of India in 1984, in the third test of the series between 03 to 05 February 1984 in Ahmedabad, scored 525 runs in the second innings before being all out. In that innings, Australia’s Peta Verco scored an incredible 105 runs, and Karen Price also contributed 104 runs, helping the visitors reach this unbelievable target. A strong fight from the Indian batters, resulted in the Test being drawn.

New Zealand – 517/8 vs England, Scarborough, 1996

During New Zealand’s tour of England, the visitors scored 517/8 in the second innings of the first Test match of the series played between 24 to 27 June 1996 in Scarborough. Kirsty Bond played an extraordinary innings of 204 runs, and Shelley Fruin also helped with her 80 runs to reach this total. In this match, both teams played only a single innings in four days, resulting in a draw.
