Sri Lanka Cricket announces free entry for spectators during Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024

The upcoming 2024 Women’s Asia Cup will be the ninth edition of the tournament, scheduled from July 19 to July 28, 2024, in Sri Lanka. It will feature eight teams, with all matches played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), keeping in mind the T20 World Cup that follows shortly after. The tournament format includes a group round-robin stage followed by knockouts, on Friday, 12th July, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced that entry would be free for spectators.

The board also notified that all the tournament games will be broadcast live across international platforms, and the stadium will be kept open for the public to enter for free to witness the games.

The teams competing in this tournament are Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Nepal, Malaysia, and Thailand.

India, Pakistan, the UAE, and Nepal will compete in Group ‘A,’ while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand will compete in Group ‘B.’ The tournament will feature a total of 15 games, including the two semi-finals and the final.

The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket, in collaboration with the Asian Cricket Council, has appointed Mr. Ravin Wickramaratne, Vice President of Sri Lanka Cricket, as the Tournament Director of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024.

Mr. Ravin Wickramaratne expressed that Sri Lanka Cricket, with the support of the Asian Cricket Council, is committed to organizing a highly successful tournament. He emphasized that a successful outcome of this tournament would significantly contribute to advancing women’s cricket on the world stage.

“Sri Lanka Cricket, with the support of the Asian Cricket Council, is planning to conduct a highly successful tournament, as a successful outcome of this tournament will help advance women’s cricket on the world stage,” said Mr. Ravin Wickramaratne.
