This English summer is poised to witness a new chapter in the iconic and long-standing rivalry, The Ashes. In addition to the highly anticipated Ashes series, an A tour was also announced, which now has a notable addition – a three-day tour match.
The Australia A tour of the UK, initially slated from the 21st of June to the 2nd of July, has now been modified. The multi-format series now gets underway on the 15th of June, due to the addition of a three-day tour match against the England women’s team.
Luke Williams, the coach who led the Women’s Big Bash League (W-BBL) team to victory, has been appointed as the head coach for the Australian A team’s upcoming tour of the UK. He will be joined by Erin Osborne and Gavan Twining as part of the coaching group.
Former Bradman Medallist, Luke Williams, took on the position of head coach for the Adelaide Strikers ahead of the 2019/20 season and guided the team to the championship in the previous, 08 edition. Williams also coaches the South Australia Scorpions and has led them to successive finals in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL).
Gavan was appointed head coach of New South Wales for the 2021-22 WNCL season. He previously spent a long stint with the Sydney Sixers in the men’s BBL and also holds a role as a coach in the Cricket NSW pathway programme. Erin Osborne coaches the ACT’s female Meteors Development Squad and is Cricket ACT’s Male Pathway Manager.
