Bio:

Robine Rijke, born on September 1, 1996, has emerged as a key figure in Dutch women’s cricket, despite facing challenges along her cricketing journey. She first represented the Netherlands women’s national cricket team in the 2015 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier, showcasing her talent and potential on the international stage.

However, Rijke encountered a setback in June 2018 when her bowling action was deemed illegal during the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament, resulting in a suspension from bowling in international matches. Undeterred by this obstacle, Rijke remained committed to the sport, continuing to contribute to the Dutch squad in other capacities.

Despite facing suspension, Rijke’s dedication to cricket remained unwavering. She was named in the squad for the 2019 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament, demonstrating her resilience and determination to overcome adversity. However, she faced another suspension due to her bowling action being declared illegal by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Nevertheless, Rijke’s perseverance eventually paid off when, in November 2021, following a re-assessment, the ICC declared her bowling action legal once again. This marked a significant milestone in her cricketing career, allowing her to resume bowling in international matches and continue pursuing her passion for the sport.

Beyond her on-field achievements, Rijke is actively involved with SISAR B.V., a sponsor of the Dutch women’s cricket team, demonstrating her commitment to supporting the growth and development of cricket in the Netherlands. Additionally, her exceptional performance as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) during the inaugural edition of the Women’s European Cricket Championship in December 2023 further solidifies her status as a prominent figure in Dutch cricket.
