Bio:

Beth Mooney is widely regarded as one of the most consistent batters in the game. She made her international debut in January 2016. For the national side, she plays purely as a batter, while her skills as a wicketkeeper are showcased more in domestic and franchise cricket.

In the domestic circuit, Mooney played for Queensland until the 2021/22 season of the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL). As of 2024, she represents Western Australia as a wicketkeeper/batter.

Across all three formats internationally, she has scored five centuries, as of 2024.

In T20 Internationals (T20Is), Mooney made her debut on January 26, 2016, against India during India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide. Her maiden century in T20Is was achieved on November 21, 2017, against England during England’s tour of Australia at Canberra. As of 2024, she has scored over 2800 runs in T20Is.

At the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Mooney finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 259 runs and was named the Player of the Tournament.

In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Mooney made her debut on February 20, 2016, against New Zealand during Australia’s tour of New Zealand at Mount Maunganui. In her impressive debut, she scored a half-century, 53(77), and caught two catches as a wicketkeeper. Her maiden international century, 100(123), was recorded on February 26, 2017, against New Zealand during the 1st ODI of Australia’s tour of New Zealand at Auckland. As of 2024, she has scored over 2300 runs in ODIs.

In Tests, she made her debut on November 9, 2017, against England during England’s tour of Australia at North Sydney. As of 2024, she has scored over 450 runs in Tests.

In franchise cricket, Mooney has a stellar record in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), dominating with the bat. From the 2015/16 to 2019/20 seasons, she played for Brisbane Heat. As of 2024, she plays for the Perth Scorchers, having joined them in the 2020/21 season. Mooney has been the leading run-scorer for four consecutive seasons (WBBL|06, WBBL|07, WBBL|08, WBBL|09). On November 21, 2020, she became the first player to score 3000 runs in the WBBL. As of 2024, she holds the record for the most runs in the tournament, with 4,665.

In December 2017, Mooney won both the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year and ICC Women’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year awards. She has twice been named the Wisden Leading Woman Cricketer in the World (2020, 2022) and has also won the Belinda Clark Award twice (2021, 2023).
