Masabata Klaas, the right-arm medium pacer’s journey in international cricket began in October 2010 with a bang – debuting in Women’s One Day Internationals (WODI) for South Africa against Sri Lanka.
This dedication was further recognized in March 2018 when Cricket South Africa awarded her a well-deserved national contract, solidifying her importance to the team. Klaas’ talent extends beyond the WODI format. In Women’s T20 International (WT20I) cricket, she made her debut just days after her WODI debut, in October 2010, against the Netherlands. This early exposure to both formats showcased her versatility and adaptability as a bowler.
In May 2019, she became the second ever South African player to claim a hattrick and marked her name in history by becoming the tenth bowler to take a hat-trick in a WODI match against Pakistan.
She has also been a key player in major tournaments, featuring in the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20, the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, and the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup. Her adaptability was further showcased by her selection for the Women’s T20 Super League in 2019. Most recently, she continued to inspire with her selection for the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
