Brief History of Chile Women’s National Cricket Team
The Chile women’s national cricket team, nicknamed Las Loicas, represents Chile in women’s cricket matches. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members. Consequently, all Twenty20 matches played by the Chile women’s team against other international sides after 1 July 2018 have WT20I status.
Historical Highlights – Chile Women’s National Cricket Team
Chile’s first WT20I matches were played as part of the South American Women’s Championships in August 2018, competing against Brazil, Mexico, and Peru. Chile won four matches and lost two, finishing second on the table. In the final against Brazil, Chile lost by 92 runs. They made their WT20I debut against Brazil at Los Pinos Polo Club 2, Bogotá, on 23 August 2018.

South American Cricket Championship:
Chile’s participation in the South American Cricket Championship has seen varied results over the years. They finished third in the 2010 tournament. In 2011 and 2013, they did not secure any position. They did not participate in the 2014 and 2016 editions but finished third in 2015. In 2017, they again secured third place. In 2018, after gaining ICC status, they finished runners-up, and in 2019, they finished third. Chile did not participate in the 2022 edition.
