Bio:

Marufa Akter’s journey in international cricket began in December 2022, marking the start of an exciting career. In the domestic circuit, she played for Sylhet Division in 2022 and Jamuna in the 2022/23 season. Her talent quickly shone through as she made significant contributions in both formats of the game internationally, including taking a notable four-wicket haul.

In T20 Internationals, Marufa made her debut on December 4, 2022, against New Zealand during Bangladesh’s tour at Dunedin. In an impressive introduction to the world stage, she picked up two wickets, setting the tone for her future performances. Representing the Bangladesh Under-19 Team in the 2023 Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, she showcased her bowling prowess by taking eight wickets in the tournament, with her best figures being 2/16 against the UAE Under-19 Team. As of 2024, she has claimed over 15 wickets in T20Is.

Marufa’s One Day International debut came a week later on December 11, 2022, against New Zealand in Wellington. A standout moment in her ODI career occurred during the India tour of Bangladesh in 2023. On July 16, 2023, in the first ODI against India, she delivered a remarkable performance, taking 4/29 in her seven overs. This feat secured Bangladesh’s first ODI victory against India by 40 runs and earned Marufa the Player of the Match award. As of 2024, she has taken over 10 wickets in ODIs.
