Yasmin Daswani reached a significant milestone in Hong Kong women’s cricket when she became only the fourth batter after Mariko Hill, Natasha Miles, and Kary Chan from the country to surpass 1,500 runs in women’s T20Is.
The experienced 31-year-old top-order wicket-keeper batter achieved the landmark during Hong Kong’s opening match of the sixth edition of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 against Thailand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 28 August.
Daswani entered the contest needing 27 runs to reach the mark. Batting at number three while chasing Thailand’s target of 121, she scored a composed 28 from 41 balls, striking two boundaries. Although Hong Kong eventually fell six runs short, her contribution placed her among an exclusive group of Hong Kong batters to cross the 1,500-run barrier in the format.
Since making her T20I debut against Indonesia in Bangkok on 12 January 2019, Daswani has grown into one of Hong Kong’s most dependable batters. She has now accumulated 1,501 runs at a strike rate of 82.69 and an average of 25.87. Her record has come across 87 innings in 95 matches, with five half-centuries highlighting her consistency at the international level.
The milestone reflects more than longevity. Daswani has remained a central figure in Hong Kong’s batting unit through different phases of the team’s development. As a wicket-keeper batter who operates in the top order, she combines responsibility with experience and has regularly been trusted to build an innings when her side needs stability.
Her most outstanding performance in the format came only a few months before the Asia Cup. On 4 June 2026, during the ACC Women’s Premier Cup, Daswani produced a career-best 84 not out from 64 balls against Qatar at Mantin. Coming in at number three in the first innings, she struck 11 boundaries and guided Hong Kong to 164/3 in their allotted 20 overs. That innings was a defining display of her ability to anchor an innings while maintaining control of the scoring rate. Hong Kong went on to defeat Qatar by 83 runs, with Daswani receiving the Player of the Match award for her unbeaten half-century.
Her latest achievement arrives despite Hong Kong’s narrow defeat in Dubai, making it an individual landmark carved out in a challenging team setting. Daswani’s journey from her international debut in 2019 to joining Hong Kong’s 1,500-run club underlines her enduring value to the side.
At 31, she remains an experienced presence in Hong Kong’s top order and behind the stumps. Her milestone against Thailand adds another important chapter to a career built on reliability, adaptability and a sustained contribution to the growth of women’s cricket in Hong Kong.
