Finland Women produced a clinical all-round display to register a dominant nine-wicket victory over Estonia Women in the second T20I of the Finland Women tour of Estonia 2026 at Tallinn on July 25. Chasing a modest target of 64, the visitors made light work of the pursuit, reaching 64/1 in just six overs with a remarkable 84 balls remaining.
Earlier in the evening, disciplined bowling from Traijila Mulepati and Mari Kojo ensured Estonia Women never found any rhythm with the bat, restricting the hosts to 63/8 in their allotted 20 overs. From the first over until the winning boundary, Finland Women remained in complete control, combining sharp fielding, economical bowling and aggressive batting to seal a comprehensive victory.
Asked to bat first, Estonia Women hoped for a positive start through Geethma Madanayake and skipper Annemari Vessik, but Finland struck in the fifth over to gain the early advantage. Vessik managed only 4 from 13 deliveries before edging Traijila Mulepati behind to the wicketkeeper, leaving Estonia at 13/1 after 4.1 overs. Madanayake tried to settle in but struggled to rotate the strike against Finland’s disciplined attack, eventually departing for 5 off 25 balls after giving another catch to Mulepati, this time off Mari Kojo, as Estonia slipped to 29/2 in 9.6 overs.
Egelin Ellermäa contributed 3 from 26 deliveries, but scoring remained difficult as she was caught by Malyun Hassan off Elina Rama in the 11th over, reducing Estonia to 29/3. The pressure mounted further when Maret Valner was dismissed for a first-ball duck by Rama in the very next delivery, making it 29/4 after 10.5 overs. Estonia’s innings was in danger of completely falling apart before Ragne Hallik attempted to rebuild with a patient 12 off 16 balls, while Chamali Lokuge chipped in scoring 6 from 7 deliveries, including the team’s only boundary.
However, Aryaa Kulkarni was bowled by Mulepati for a duck, Lokuge was run out following good work from Kojo and Nguyen, Hallik eventually fell to Malyun Hassan, and Sirli Pattenden also departed without scoring. Through all the collapses, Laura-Anette Taei remained unbeaten on 0 from 18 balls, while Nisha Kulkarni finished not out on 0 off 9 deliveries. Estonia relied heavily on 33 extras, including 20 byes, to reach 63/8, highlighting Finland’s dominance despite the unusually high number of extras.
Finland’s bowlers executed their plans brilliantly throughout the innings. Rhea Khullar was tidy with 0/3 in two overs, conceding just 1.50 per over, Leah Martin bowled four overs for 0/17, and Stella Sheridan contributed with a single economical over costing just four runs. Finland’s fielding complemented the bowling effort perfectly, with multiple catches and a sharp run-out ensuring Estonia never recovered after the early breakthroughs.
Needing only 64 for victory, Finland Women approached the chase with positive intent despite losing an early wicket. Elina Rama and Stella Sheridan opened the innings, but Estonia found a brief moment of success when Rama was dismissed for 4 off 6 balls, caught by Vessik off Maret Valner, leaving Finland at 22/1 after 2.3 overs. That breakthrough, however, proved to be Estonia’s only success of the innings. From there, captain Traijila Mulepati joined Sheridan to produce an unbeaten 42-run partnership that completely took the game away from the hosts.
Sheridan was the standout performer with an explosive 39 not out from just 20 deliveries, smashing four boundaries and one six at a breathtaking strike rate of 195.00. She consistently found the gaps and punished anything loose, ensuring the required run rate was never an issue. Mulepati provided excellent support with 10 not out off 13 balls, striking one boundary while rotating the strike effectively. Finland also received 11 extras, including six wides, helping them race to 64/1 in only six overs at a run rate of 10.66, completing the chase with 84 balls to spare.
Estonia’s bowlers found little assistance against Finland’s aggressive batting approach. Maret Valner was the lone wicket-taker, finishing with 1/20 in two overs after dismissing Rama. Captain Annemari Vessik bowled three overs for 30 runs, while Aryaa Kulkarni conceded 12 runs from her only over. Despite their efforts, the modest total left very little margin for error, and Finland’s confident batting lineup ensured the chase was wrapped up in emphatic fashion.
