England opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge has been named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for June 2026 after an outstanding month in which she played a major role in England’s journey to the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Wyatt-Hodge was England’s best batter during the tournament and finished as the leading run-scorer with 302 runs, becoming the first player in the history of the Women’s T20 World Cup to score more than 300 runs in a single edition. This is the second time Wyatt-Hodge has won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award, having previously received the honour in November 2024. She beat Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce and India spinner Sree Charani to win the June award.
After receiving the honour, Wyatt-Hodge said she was delighted to win the award, especially after performing well in a World Cup played at home.
“I’m delighted to win the ICC Player of the Month award, especially since it came for performances at a World Cup on home soil.
“The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was a fantastic occasion for the game, and having the opportunity to play in the final at Lord’s is a memory that my teammates and I will cherish forever.”
Wyatt-Hodge enjoyed a brilliant month with the bat. During June, she scored 287 runs in six matches, with five of those games coming in the Women’s T20 World Cup. She averaged 71.75 and batted at an impressive strike rate of 151.85, showing both consistency and attacking intent throughout the tournament.
Her best performance came in England’s opening World Cup match against Sri Lanka, where she scored a superb unbeaten 105. It was one of the finest innings of the tournament and helped England post 219 runs, which was the joint-highest team total in the competition.
Wyatt-Hodge continued her excellent form in the following matches. She played a match-winning knock of 65 against the West Indies before producing another outstanding unbeaten innings of 89 against defending champions New Zealand. That victory knocked New Zealand out of the tournament and confirmed England’s place in the knockout stage.
Her consistency throughout the competition helped England remain unbeaten in the group stage before they reached the World Cup final at Lord’s.
The experienced opener also made history during the tournament. She broke the record for the most runs scored in a single edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, going past Beth Mooney’s previous record of 259 runs, which the Australian opener had set during the 2020 edition.
Wyatt-Hodge finished the tournament with 302 runs, becoming the first player ever to cross the 300-run mark in a Women’s T20 World Cup. It was a remarkable achievement and highlighted the impact she made throughout England’s campaign.
Although England finished as runners-up after losing the final to Australia, Wyatt-Hodge’s performances were one of the biggest positives for the hosts. She gave England strong starts at the top of the order, played important innings under pressure and proved once again why she is one of the best batters in women’s cricket.
Winning the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award is another well-deserved achievement for Wyatt-Hodge after a memorable June. Her record-breaking World Cup campaign, consistent run-scoring and match-winning performances helped England reach the final and earned her individual recognition from the ICC. With her confidence high and form at its best, Wyatt-Hodge will now look to carry that momentum into England’s upcoming international assignments.
