The huge crowd at the Home of Cricket showed how quickly women’s cricket is growing around the world. Fans packed Lord’s to watch one of the biggest matches of the tournament as Australia defeated India by six wickets to qualify for the semi-finals and end India’s campaign.

This was the third time during the tournament that the record for the highest attendance at a Women’s T20 World Cup group-stage match had been broken.

The first attendance record came on Sunday, June 15, during the much-awaited India vs Pakistan match at Edgbaston in Birmingham. A total of 18,814 spectators watched the game in a completely sold-out stadium. The match received around 88,000 ticket requests, making it one of the most popular matches of the tournament even before it began.

The India-Pakistan match also attracted huge attention around the world. Around 134 million viewers watched the game on the live streaming platform, while the match recorded more than 1.1 billion viewing minutes on JioHotstar. It also made up more than 40 percent of the total stadium attendance during the opening weekend of the tournament.

At that time, the India-Pakistan match became the highest-attended group-stage game in Women’s T20 World Cup history. It also broke the previous record of 15,935 spectators, which had been set during the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai.

The record did not last for long.

On Saturday, June 27, England’s match against New Zealand at The Oval attracted 21,018 fans, setting another new attendance record for a group-stage match. The crowd showed the strong support for women’s cricket in England, with thousands of fans filling the stadium to watch the hosts.

However, that record lasted for less than 24 hours.

On Sunday, June 28, the Australia vs India clash at Lord’s attracted 27,163 spectators, creating yet another attendance record. It became the biggest crowd ever seen for a Women’s T20 World Cup group-stage match and once again showed the growing interest in the women’s game.

The latest record also helped the tournament reach another important milestone. During the group stage, more than 125,000 fans attended matches across England and Wales. This made the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 the highest-selling Women’s T20 World Cup ever.

The tournament has not only attracted record crowds inside the stadiums but has also reached more fans through television, live streaming and digital platforms than any previous edition. The growing interest from supporters around the world has made this one of the biggest tournaments in the history of women’s cricket.

The exciting group stage has now finished, and the focus will move to the knockout matches. The semi-finals will be played at The Oval on Tuesday, June 30, and Thursday, July 2. The final will take place at Lord’s on Sunday, July 5. From Group B, England and West Indies secured their places in the semi-finals after strong performances during the league stage.

In Group A, Australia finished unbeaten and booked their place in the final four after defeating India at Lord’s. Australia’s victory also helped South Africa qualify for the semi-finals, while India missed out despite entering their final group match with qualification still in their own hands.

The record-breaking crowds throughout the tournament have shown how much women’s cricket has grown over the last few years. The India-Pakistan match first created a new attendance record, England vs New Zealand broke it next, and Australia vs India raised it even higher one day later.

With full stadiums, huge television audiences and millions of fans following the action online, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has become one of the biggest and most successful women’s sporting events ever. As the tournament moves into the semi-finals and final, even bigger crowds are expected, adding another exciting chapter to a World Cup that has already created history both on and off the field.
