This incident took place during the first ODI match held at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane. Harmanpreet was batting well in the middle, but she did not return to the ground in the second innings due to pain in her left knee. Later, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared an official statement regarding the incident, stating that Harmanpreet has injured her left knee and that the medical team is closely monitoring her.

In Harmanpreet’s absence, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana took charge, leading the team during the match. After being bowled out for 214 in 48.3 overs, India struggled to defend the total as Australia chased it down in 38.2 overs with six wickets in hand. The six-wicket victory handed the hosts a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series and left India to rethink and build strategies for the upcoming clash.

However, before the second ODI match at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart, there was some good news from the Indian camp. All-rounder Deepti Sharma gave some hope about the fitness of the skipper. As she mentioned talking about her skipper “she is fit and fine.”

Her statement is a huge relief for India, especially in light of Harmanpreet’s importance to the team, not only as a batter but also as a leader. The team will require her experience and composure as they attempt to turn the tide and level the series.

Deepti also commented on the performance of the team in the first ODI match. While admitting that the result was disappointing, she is hopeful about the team’s effort as a whole. “As a team, we played really good. But obviously, the result has not come in our way.

“But obviously, we are looking forward as a team, and we will come back stronger in the next game. Personally, I’m always confident with them whenever we play. We want to play our good and best cricket in the next game,” she added.

With the captain declared fit and the squad determined to improve, India will head into the second ODI with renewed confidence. The focus now shifts to delivering a complete performance and keeping the series alive.
