The series will take place from 20 to 25 February 2026 at the National Cricket Stadium, St George’s, Grenada — forms part of the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship and is seen as a key building block in the Caribbean side’s bid to improve their ODI ranking and build momentum for the year ahead.

This six-match tour with three ODIs followed by three T20 Internationals (T20Is), pits the Maroon Warriors against a Sri Lankan side currently ranked higher in women’s ODIs. For West Indies, this home series brings not only the chance to earn valuable championship points but also to showcase the resurgence of key players returning from injury.

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews headlines the squad after making a full recovery from a shoulder injury that had sidelined her since mid-2025. Matthews’ return is a significant boost; she will lead her side on home soil after missing competitive action for several months.

Supporting her will be newly appointed vice-captain Chinelle Henry, who has taken over from long-serving wicketkeeper Shemaine Campbelle. Cricket West Indies highlighted Henry’s appointment as recognition of her evolving leadership qualities and consistent performance in both regional and global franchise competitions.

Another positive development is the return of all-rounder Deandra Dottin to the West Indies setup. Dottin was unavailable for much of the team’s 2025 calendar due to injury, including the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Pakistan and subsequent tours of England and South Africa. Her inclusion adds both experience and firepower to an already talented squad.

Cricket West Indies Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe underlined the importance of the Grenada series in the broader context of women’s cricket development in the Caribbean “This home series is a cornerstone event, not just for team preparation but for the continued elevation of women’s cricket across the Caribbean

“Every match played here is an investment in our future. It is about providing a visible, high-performance pathway that shows every young woman in the region what is possible.” Bascombe said. He also expressed enthusiasm about playing in front of home fans, hoping that the Maroon Warriors’ performances will energize local supporters and inspire the next generation of West Indies players.

Head Coach Shane Deitz echoed those sentiments, acknowledging both the competitive challenge ahead and the opportunity that a home series presents, “We’re excited to have this series against Sri Lanka, who are a really good team.

“They beat us in the ODI series in Sri Lanka back in 2024, so we owe them one and now we get them on our home turf,” Deitz said. “It’ll be tough and hard fought, but the girls are excited about competing, putting on a good show and playing some great cricket for all our fans here in the Caribbean.”
