The transition will be phased, with Alyssa Healy continuing as captain for the ODI and Test matches against India, her farewell series, while Molineux takes charge of the T20I series. Ashleigh Gardner and Tahlia McGrath have been named vice-captains, reinforcing a leadership group built around experience, versatility and continuity. The series will run from mid-February through early March, culminating in a one-off Test match at the WACA Ground in Perth.

Molineux’s first assignment as captain will come in the three-match T20I series, beginning on February 15.

Australia’s T20I squad for India series:

Sophie Molineux (C), Darcie Brown, Nicola Carey, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Grace Harris, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Voll, Georgia Wareham

Carey’s recall to the T20I setup is a notable development after a period outside the international frame, while Harris and Schutt return to provide additional power and pace depth in the shortest format. Alana King is omitted from the T20I squad, with selectors opting for a seam-heavy and all-rounder-focused balance better suited to high-tempo matches.

The ODI series, starting on February 24, will see Healy resume captaincy duties for one final time.

Australia’s ODI squad for India series:

Alyssa Healy (C), Darcie Brown, Nicola Carey, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Voll, Georgia Wareham

King has been named in the ODI group, strengthening the spin attack, while Carey’s presence across both white-ball squads highlights her growing value as a flexible bowling and batting option. Harris and Schutt drop out for the ODIs, reflecting a tactical shift toward greater batting depth and spin variety as Australia prepares for longer innings and strategic build-ups.

The multi-format series concludes with a historic one-off Test against India from March 6 to 9, where Healy will once again lead the side.

Australia’s Test squad for India series:

Alyssa Healy (C), Darcie Brown, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Lucy Hamilton, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Voll, Georgia Wareham

Hamilton’s inclusion is the standout selection, with the young all-rounder earning her place following strong domestic performances and signaling Australia’s intent to build depth in the longest format. Carey, Harris and Schutt are omitted from the Test squad, while the return of Wareham and King bolsters Australia’s spin resources for conditions expected to suit their turn at the WACA.

Across all formats, Australia have maintained a strong core of senior players while introducing selective changes aimed at managing workloads and preparing the next generation. Gardner, McGrath, Perry and Sutherland remain central figures across formats, offering balance and experience. Phoebe Litchfield’s presence in all three squads underlines her growing importance in Australia’s long-term plans, with selectors continuing to invest in her adaptability across formats at international level.
