“2025 was also a memorable year in terms of sports… The women’s cricket team won the World Cup for the first time. The daughters of Bharat created history by winning the women’s blind T20 World Cup.”

Words cannot be more appropriate as India engraved three milestone victories in the women’s cricket calendar, breaking barriers and inspiring generations to come.

Be it the title triumph of the senior team in their maiden ICC Women’s ODI World Cup on home soil, or the path breaking Blind Women’s T20 World Cup victory, or the dominating run of the U19 squad, 2025 stood at the pinnacle of excellence, resilience, and raw talent.

The crowning moment, the night of glory, came when host India beat South Africa in the final of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup on November 2 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Stadium in Navi Mumbai. It marked a seismic shift in fortunes for Indian women’s cricket as it tasted victory on home ground for the first time amidst roaring crowds.

Explosive opener Shafali Verma’s authoritative 87-run knock built the inning, with her crucial two wickets turning the match around. Defending under lights, India were clinical in their precision, mixing aggressive stroke play with tactical nous to lift the trophy in front of the home crowd. India’s 52-run win wasn’t just a win; it was redemption after near misses in 2005 and 2017.

Few days after that history was again created in Colombo, when the Blind Women’s team of India won the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup. Batting second, they chased 115 inside 12.1 overs, demolishing Nepal by seven wickets at the iconic P. Sara Oval. Thereafter, after choosing to field first, accuracy that bordered on precision, coupled with razor-sharp fielding, pinned Nepal at 114/5, which squeezed out boundaries and choked any momentum.

The chase thereafter was all about discipline mixed with fearless intent; as the top gave stability to the chase, rotating strikes and maintaining the momentum with composure that belied the pressure of the day. This victory marked decades of unseen toil by visually impaired athletes, coaches, and other support staff, bringing blind cricket into global prominence, proving spirit is thicker than mere flesh.

First of India’s 3 triumphs came in the U19 Women’s World Cup in February, when India outshined South Africa by nine wickets. Chasing a modest 83 runs, the young powerhouse made it in only 11.2 overs, their batting firepower overwhelming the opposition.

This early triumph set the tone for the dominance of 2025 and nurtured stars in the next generation. These three victories by the senior, blind, and U19 teams paint 2025 as India keeps achieving milestones in women’s cricket. They underline systemic growth from grassroots development to world level execution fuelling dreams for daughters of Bharat everywhere.
