The team, led by skipper Deepika TC, had scripted history just weeks earlier by defeating Nepal, captained by Binita Pun, by 7 wickets in the final on November 23, 2025, at Colombo’s P Sara Oval. Sachin spent nearly an hour with the players, congratulating them on their remarkable journey and soaking in their stories of grit and glory.

The tournament, hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka from November 11 to 23, showcased the unyielding spirit of visually impaired athletes chasing dreams on the global stage. India’s dominant unbeaten run culminated in that thrilling final victory, marking them as pioneers in a format that promises to inspire countless others. Tendulkar, often hailed as the God of Cricket, praised their determination, noting how they had overcome formidable challenges to chase their dreams and cross the final hurdle.

Praising their hard work and perseverance, which he said would be remembered and celebrated well beyond the tournament, Sachin also highlighted the crucial role of the players’ families. He acknowledged their parents in particular for offering encouragement and freedom rather than limitations, enabling these athletes to pursue the sport at the highest level.

Sachin Tendulkar’s post on X read, “Most have eyesight, but only a few have true vision. I had the chance to meet these remarkable young visually challenged women who made India proud. Their courage, discipline, and belief are a testament to the fact that this game is felt and lived, and that nothing should deter anyone from making it their own. With their grit and determination, they have changed the narrative of how we experience the game.

They have made history on the world stage and inspired the next generation to believe that no dream is beyond reach. Congratulations to the entire team and support staff on winning the inaugural T20 Women’s World Cup for visually challenged.”

Captain Deepika TC captured the emotion of the encounter on her Instagram, sharing glimpses with the caption: “Today, I met Sachin Tendulkar, the God of Cricket. His humility, simplicity and words meant more to me than I can express. Truly an inspiration in every sense.”

Speaking to the press afterwards, she added, “Meeting Sachin sir was a dream come true. We have always played with passion and belief, but hearing words of encouragement from him has touched our hearts deeply. This moment will stay with us for life and will motivate us to work even harder and carry Indian cricket to greater heights.”

This iconic meeting at MIG Cricket Club wasn’t just a celebrity handshake; it symbolised the inclusive future of Indian cricket, where barriers of ability fade before sheer willpower. As these blind warriors return to the field, Tendulkar’s endorsement fuels their fire, reminding us all that true champions are forged in adversity.
