In a statement posted on her Instagram story, Mandhana stated that her silence created controversy, and it was the need of the hour for her to speak on the matter. She said, “Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life, and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person, and I would like to keep it that way, but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off.”

She also added by requesting people not to further create any other speculation and close the matter here. “I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same. I request you to please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace,” she added.

In the statement, Mandhana also reflected on where her priorities currently stand and will return to playing soon and try to move ahead with the focus on bringing more trophies for the Indian women’s cricket national team.

“I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible, and that is where my focus will forever be. Thank you for all your support. It’s time to move forward,” she concluded.

Mandhana will soon be busy with international tournaments, and with the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 ahead, she will be managing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team as the captain.

During this tough phase, Jemimah Rodrigues, among other teammates, has been in support of Mandhana as a close friend and withdrew herself from the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) to be with her.

Smriti and Palaash’s wedding was supposed to be held on November 23, 2025. But the wedding got cancelled after Mandhana’s father had to be hospitalized urgently on the day of the wedding ceremony.

On the other hand, the groom, Palaash, also required some medical care. Later, both families decided to mutually postpone the wedding. But not long enough, rumours of Palaash cheating on Mandhana circulated over social media. The allegations were, however, denied by his family, including her sister Palak Muchhal, who is a well-known singer.

Although the reason for calling off the wedding remains officially unsaid, both of them have decided to continue on different paths ahead.
