Here’s What Doctors Said About Palaash Muchhal’s Stress-Related Health Scare

The week that was meant to celebrate the union of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palaash Muchhal instead turned into a series of unexpected medical emergencies, emotional upheaval, and a postponed wedding. With both families now recovering from a tense week, a new picture has emerged about the events that unfolded.

Here’s What Doctors Said About Palaash Muchhal’s Stress-Related Health Scare

Just a day after the wedding in Sangli was halted, Palaash Muchhal was rushed to the hospital after experiencing significant chest discomfort. Fresh medical updates confirm that the episode was primarily triggered by severe emotional strain rather than a cardiac emergency.

Doctors overseeing his treatment have clarified that his symptoms were stress-induced. His treating physician, Dr. Dipendra Tripathi, emphasised that the cause was psychological distress rather than a heart event, “Palaash’s condition appears to be linked to stress-related distress rather than a serious cardiac event,” said Dr. Dipendra Tripathi.

Palaash was first admitted to a hospital in Sangli, where he reported chest uneasiness. When his symptoms did not improve, he was shifted to Mumbai late November 24. Upon admission to SRV Hospital, he presented with severe chest pain, breathing difficulty, and uneasiness, prompting immediate cardiac tests including ECG and 2D echocardiography.

Although minor elevations were noted in some parameters, there was no indication of a major medical emergency. Oxygen therapy was started as part of routine stabilisation, “Following initial stabilisation, Palaash was shifted to a general room and kept under close observation,” said the doctor.

Over time, his clinical progress strongly suggested stress-related distress compounded by anxiety rather than cardiac pathology. The doctor concluded this based on test results and his steady improvement with rest, “Based on the clinical findings and his response to treatment, doctors suspect that the episode was largely due to stress-related distress, compounded by anxiety surrounding the situation. With rest and supportive care, his condition steadily improved, and his stress levels have since reduced significantly.”

Medical staff have confirmed that Palaash is now stable and recovering well. He is expected to be discharged soon and has been advised three weeks of complete rest to prevent recurrence.

Palaash’s hospitalisation closely followed another crisis—the sudden illness of Smriti Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana. On the morning of the wedding, he developed chest symptoms that resembled a cardiac incident while having breakfast. He was immediately rushed to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli, leading to the indefinite postponement of the ceremony set for November 23.

He underwent an angiography, which thankfully showed no blockages, bringing relief to the family. By November 25 morning, he had improved significantly and was discharged, with doctors declaring him stable and out of danger.

The attending physician, Dr. Naman Shah, confirmed that the episode was due to angina, prompting continuous monitoring and treatment.

Smriti and Palaash, who began dating in 2019, maintained privacy around their relationship until July 2024. A grand week-long celebration had been planned in Sangli, but the medical emergencies involving both families halted everything.

What was meant to be a festive and memorable milestone instead became an emotionally challenging week. With Palaash recovering and Shrinivas Mandhana declared stable, both families can finally focus on healing after the turbulence.
