London Spirit has revealed the captain and head coach of its men and women teams. They have locked in the captains of their national teams for both sides. While England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan will lead the men’s team, England Women skipper Heather Knight will don the captain’s cap for the women’s team the next season.
Heather Knight, the 2017 World-Cup-winning skipper is one of the most celebrated batters of her country and has ample experience of playing cricket at the highest level. She has already captained franchise team Western Storm in the Kia Super League having also led them to two trophies. Western Storm coach Trevor Griffin has been assigned as the coach for the London Spirit women’s team as well.
Western Storm has been the most successful franchise in Kia Super League, having won 2 titles in 4 editions. As the captain and coach have been reunited for The Hundred again, London Spirit will be definitely eyeing the silverware in the inaugural season of the tournament.
The Hundred is a new form of cricket which will see 8 franchise teams participating in the tournament. Each side will bat for 100 balls with one over consisting of 10 balls. A bowler can bowl either 5 or 10 balls continuously. The first season of The Hundred will be played in 2020 in England.
