All-Rounder Nimra Rafique Leads from the Front as Pakistan Seals Consecutive Victories

Pakistan were up against the USA at BOI Ground, Colombo, in the 15th match of the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind 2025, from 11th to 23rd November 2025. It also was the final league stage fixture of the tournament, before the caravan moves to the knockout stages from 22nd November 2025.

The USA skipper Abey won the toss and opted to bat first in Colombo. Impressive control and accuracy in line and length from the Pakistani bowlers, Nisha (2-1-2-0), Rimsha Shabir (3-0-11-0), Shumaila Kiran (3-0-13-0), and Rabia Javed Hashmi (3-0-13-0) restricted the USA under the 100-run mark, as they just managed 94/2 in their quota of 20 overs. The USA skipper Abey (31 off 54 balls) top-scored with the bat for her side, while Tatyana (19* off 54 balls) played her part with the bat for her side.

The 82-run partnership for the 2nd wicket between Tatyana and skipper Abey was the highest partnership of the USA innings, which took the total closer to the 100-run mark. However, the lack of acceleration from the batters meant that they were left hoping for a miracle to turn things in their favour against a strong Pakistani batting lineup.

Chasing a target of 95, the Pakistani openers Rimsha Shabir (34 off 23 balls), alongside skipper Nimra Rafique (25* off 23 balls), almost took them to the brink of another thumping performance for their side. However, Shannon (1-0-12-1) gave the USA unit something to cheer for as she cleaned up Rimsha Shabir in the 8th over of the run chase to provide the much-needed first breakthrough for the Abey-led side.

Noor Fatima (17* off 8 balls) wrapped things up with a breezy cameo, including a couple of crisp boundaries alongside skipper Nimra Rafique to clinch the game by 9 wickets and more than 11 overs to spare, cruising through the target in just 8.5 overs. Tina (4-0-37-0) kept things tight in her spell.

Pakistan skipper Nimra Rafique was awarded the Player of the Match for her sensational all-round impact on the game, as she returned with outstanding match figures (3-0-17-1) with the ball, and guided her side over the line with an unbeaten 25* (23 balls) with the bat in the run chase.

As a result, Pakistan ended the league stages on a high, while the USA, on the other hand, will head back home shattered and disappointed, but with a whole lot of learnings from their campaign in the Inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup for the blind, hosted by India and partly in Sri Lanka.
