Each member of the World Cup-winning team will receive the newly launched Tata Sierra SUV, as a token of appreciation for their extraordinary dedication and achievement. Tata Motors, an iconic Indian automobile manufacturer, said it will gift the top-end variant of the Sierra to each player, recognizing their relentless spirit and the pride they brought to the nation.

“The Indian Women’s Cricket Team has set a powerful example through their determination and teamwork,” said Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. “Their victory is a celebration of hard work and belief – qualities that inspire millions across the country.”

The Tata Sierra, a beloved name in Indian automotive history, is making a grand return after its original launch in 1991 as one of the country’s pioneering SUVs. The new model, debuting as a modern five-door monocoque SUV, is set to launch on November 25, 2025.

India’s journey to the title was nothing short of inspiring. After decades of near misses, the team conquered all odds, culminating in a brilliant 52-run victory over South Africa in the final held at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium. Shafali Verma’s electric 87-run innings and a superb five-wicket haul by Deepti Sharma paved the way for the momentous win. Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership marked only the third time an Indian captain lifted the 50-over World Cup trophy, joining the legendary ranks of Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni.

State governments have also recognized the champions’ contributions. Maharashtra announced rewards of Rs 2.25 crore each for Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Radha Yadav, all hailing from the state. Himachal Pradesh declared a Rs 1 crore reward for fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur, showing widespread acknowledgment of the team’s success.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the champions at his residence, listening to their recounting of this incredible journey. He urged the heroes of Indian women’s cricket to serve as role models by promoting sports and fitness throughout the country, encouraging young girls to follow in their footsteps.

The Indian women’s team showed remarkable resilience throughout the tournament. Even after a challenging three-match losing streak, they bounced back to knock out cricket powerhouse Australia in the semifinals—a victory powered by Jemimah Rodrigues’ unbeaten century—which set the stage for their historic final triumph.

With the Tata Sierra gift, alongside the generous cash rewards and government honors, India’s women’s cricket team has truly been showered with appreciation befitting their landmark achievement. Their story is one of courage, passion, and pride—a legacy to inspire generations to come.
