The defending champions and two-time winners, Mumbai Indians, have announced their player retentions ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction. The team has held on to the maximum allowed five players, portraying that the management wants to stick to the core that helped them taste success. With no Right to Match (RTM) cards left, they will enter the auction with a purse of ₹5.75 crore.

Mumbai Indians Retained Players WPL 2026:
- Nat Sciver-Brunt – ₹3.5 crore
- Harmanpreet Kaur – ₹2.5 crore
- Hayley Matthews – ₹1.75 crore
- Amanjot Kaur ₹1 crore
- G Kamalini – ₹50 lakh
Mumbai Indians’ first and most notable retention is England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt, who has been placed ahead of captain Harmanpreet Kaur in the list and bought at INR 3.5 crores. What stands out this time is that Sciver-Brunt will earn more than Harmanpreet.
She was the highest run-scorer of the 2025 season, piling up 523 runs in just 10 innings at an impressive average of 65.37, including five half-centuries. Across three seasons, she has maintained a healthy average of 46.68 and a striking rate of 141.85. With the ball too, she has taken 12 wickets in the latest season at an economy of 7.94, and 32 wickets overall from 29 matches.
The second retention for Mumbai Indians is none other than India’s World Cup-winning captain and two-time WPL champion, Harmanpreet Kaur- who has been priced at INR 2.5 crores. A consistent performer and an inspiring leader, Harmanpreet played a crucial role once again in the 2025 season, scoring 302 runs from 10 matches at a blazing strike rate of 154.87.
Across three seasons, she has maintained an average of 40.52, with the highest score of 95* to her name. Again, she will be the spirited captain to help the team achieve glory in the fourth season.
Another key retention for Mumbai Indians is West Indies star and batting all-rounder Hayley Matthews, secured at INR 1.75 crores. A proven match-winner, Matthews had a brilliant 2025 season, scoring 307 runs from 10 matches while also making a huge impact with the ball, taking 18 wickets in as many games.
Her ability to dominate both departments makes her one of the most valuable players in the league. Interestingly, she has been preferred over Amelia Kerr in the mega auction.
Next on the list is India’s World Cup-winning all-rounder, Amanjot Kaur. A valuable asset in the shortest format bought at INR 1 crore, she proved her worth in the 2025 season by contributing with both bat and ball. She scored 128 runs from 7 innings at an impressive average of 42.66, showing great composure in the middle order.
With the ball, she added 5 wickets to her name, providing crucial breakthroughs when needed. In T20 cricket, all-rounders are often the prized possessions, and Amanjot’s balance will be pivotal in the title-defence campaign.
The fifth and final retention for Mumbai Indians at INR 50 lakhs is young uncapped Indian player G Kamalini. Just 17 years old, the wicketkeeper-batter has already made a name for herself with impressive performances in Under-19 cricket.
Mumbai’s decision to retain her clearly shows their focus on building a team for the future. Kamalini grabbed attention during the last season when she finished a thrilling run chase against RCB with remarkable composure.
