The Indian women’s cricket team continued to bask in the glory of their maiden ICC Women’s ODI World Cup triumph as they visited 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, the official residence of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

The Prime Minister hosted the champions to congratulate them on their remarkable 52 run victory over South Africa in the final at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, a win that ended India’s long wait for an ICC title. The meeting turned into a heartwarming celebration of grit, teamwork, and national pride.
The players arrived with radiant smiles. The Prime Minister greeted each member of the team, praising them for inspiring millions through their determination and sportsmanship. He lauded captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership and commended the squad for their unwavering belief even in pressure-filled moments.
India created history on 2 November 2025 in their home soil. Batting first, India posted a formidable 298 for 7, powered by Shafali Verma’s blistering 87 off 78 balls, Smriti Mandhana elegant 45, and a quickfire 58 from Deepti Sharma that lifted India to a winning total.
South Africa began their chase with intent but soon lost steam against India’s disciplined bowling attack.
