Maldives National Women’s Cricket Squad travel to Nepal for participation in 13th South Asian Games

The Maldives has created history by sending its first women’s national team to take part in 13th South Asian Games being held in Nepal.

Both men and women squads have travelled to Nepal and were bidden farewell by the Sports Commissioner Ahmed Saleem (Heena), Cricket Board of Maldives President Mohammed Aflah, CBM EXCO Members Afzal Jaleel and Ali Manik. The night before their departure, a ceremony was held to certify the squad members and were presented with a special memento to mark their Historical Beginning in presence of high authority members.

Men’s Team coaches Ahmed Neesham, Nilantha Coorey and manager Ali Manik will lead the men’s team playing upcoming matches in Kathmandu, Nepal from 1st December. Women’s Team coach Padma Kanurarathne, Manager Aisha Aroosha and CBM secretary General Ali Faiz will accompany and guide the Women’s trip and matches to be held in Pokhara, Nepal from 2nd December.

Maldives has seen some tremendous growth in last 3 years especially in Women’s Cricket and the CBM is on a roll for future engagements, which is a big positive for Cricket Industry.
