Pakistan won the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers 2025 and will now be hungry to replicate their form at the highest level. The biggest highlight has been the transfer of leadership from Bismah Maroof to Nida Dar, and now to Fatima Sana, bringing new energy and perspective to the team.

Currently ranked 8th in the world, Pakistan have one big advantage, they are familiar with the sub-continental conditions and will find it comparatively easy to adjust.
Having hosted South Africa recently, the team has decent valuable match practice under their belt. With a mix of experienced leaders and emerging talent, Pakistan will aim to assert their dominance in Asian ambience.
The team was in fine form during the qualifying rounds, demonstrating that their bases across facets are covered. In the batting department, Sidra Amin was in sublime touch, scoring 225 runs in five innings at an impressive average of 45, while Muneeba Ali closely followed with 223 runs at an average of 44.60.
Aliya Riaz was another standout, boasting a remarkable average of 66.33, giving the team stability and firepower in the middle order. The bowlers also rose to the occasion, with Nashra Sandhu taking 10 wickets and captain Fatima Sana leading from the front with 12 wickets.
Pakistan commenced their campaign with a solid 38-run win over Ireland and continued the momentum with a six-wicket victory against Scotland. They then convincingly defeated the West Indies by 65 runs and Thailand by 87 runs, before posing as champions as the only invincible team with the honours board after a cakewalk seven-wicket win over Bangladesh.
Pakistan’s World Cup journey begins against Bangladesh; a team they have generally had the advantage against. Of the previous 16 encounters, Pakistan has won eight times, and Bangladesh has won seven times, so the contest is relatively even on paper.
All of Pakistan’s matches will be played in Colombo, which gives them an opportunity to acclimate themselves to the conditions early on, as they face their arch-rival India in the next game. Pakistan has never defeated India in the last 11 encounters, so this will illustrate the progress and resolve of the team, as they challenge some of the other top teams in the tournament.
