Ashleigh Gardner’s rise in world cricket has been marked by her explosive all-round ability and historic milestones. Born in Bankstown, New South Wales, she progressed through the state system to make her Australia debut in both T20Is and ODIs in early 2017, before earning her Test cap against England on 18 July 2019.

At the domestic level, Gardner has been a powerhouse since 2015, starring for New South Wales in the Women’s National Cricket League and the Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League. She also represented Northern Districts (2015–16) in New Zealand’s Hallyburton Johnstone Shield One Day competition, South Australia (2017–18), and since 2023 has featured for the Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League.

Ashleigh Gardner’s International Career

Gardner has played 78 ODIs, scoring 1,270 runs at an average of 28.86 (1 century, 7 fifties; top score 102) and claiming 101 wickets at 21.53 (best bowling 5/30). The year 2024 was her finest yet, as she scored 269 runs with the best of 74, and picked up 20 wickets, including her career-best 5/30.

She has represented Australia in two World Cups (2017 and 2022). Her most memorable World Cup moments include an unbeaten 48 against New Zealand in 2022 and figures of 3/25 against West Indies in the same tournament.

Her crowning achievement came in the 2025 Women’s Ashes, where she struck her maiden international century (102) and held a stunning boundary catch to inspire a dominant victory.

More than her statistics, Gardner stands out as a fearless finisher, a match-winner with both bat and ball, and a two-time Belinda Clark Award winner. She is heading into her third World Cup, but it is her flair, power, and consistency that makes her one of the most influential cricketers.
