Only former skipper Charlotte Edwards, one of the game’s titans, had previously scaled such a peak for England. 12th July 2025, on this day, as Wyatt-Hodge flicked her helmet and saluted a jubilant dressing room, she affirmed her place among England’s all-time greats.

Wyatt-Hodge’s ODI resume is a testament to longevity, adaptability, and high-octane batting across eras. Since debuting on the subcontinent against India in Mumbai on March 1, 2010, she has donned the England shirt in 118 ODI matches. In 101 innings, she has compiled 2,038 runs, batting at an assertive strike rate of 88.68 and a career average of 23.42, figures that underline her attacking philosophy at the top.

Her five half-centuries and two centuries have often come when the stakes were highest. The pinnacle arrived at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, during the 2022 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup semi-final: a blistering 129 from 125 balls against South Africa, a knock that propelled England to the final and earned her the Player of the Match award. Wyatt-Hodge has also played her part with the ball, delivering crucial spells with her off-spin to claim 27 wickets at 28.51, backed by a tidy economy rate of 5.03.

If ODIs revealed her grit, T20Is are where Danielle’s spark turned truly intense. Making her T20I debut just days after her ODI bow, Wyatt-Hodge quickly became England’s go-to firestarter. Across an incredible 178 T20I matches, she has amassed 3,335 runs at a turbocharged strike rate of 129.21, averaging 23.32. Her tally boasts 21 half-centuries and two thunderous centuries, tallied with typical aggression and flair.

Her most breathtaking T20I innings came at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, in 2018: a rapid-fire 124 off 64 balls with 15 fours and 5 sixes, orchestrating a record chase against India. Awarded Player of the Match for that innings, she cemented her legacy as a game-changer. With the ball, early in her career, she was a potent option: 46 wickets at 15.54 and one magical four-wicket haul (4/11) against South Africa in Basseterre.

The 2025 T20I series against India again showcased Wyatt-Hodge’s resilience. Amidst a challenging series where India sealed a historic first-ever T20I series win in England, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge headlined the final encounter of the series, her 300th international match, with a signature half-century (56 off 37), anchoring a 101-run opening stand alongside Sophia Dunkley, chasing a record total of 168 that had Edgbaston roaring in approval.

She closed the series as England’s 2nd highest run scorer (after her opening partner Sophia Dunkley): 128 runs at a strike rate of 140.65, reaffirming her vital role even 15 years after her debut. England eventually clinched the 5th T20I by 5 wickets in an edge-of-the-seat, last-ball thriller to sign off the T20I series on a high.

For much of her career, Test opportunities eluded her and were rare in the women’s game. Yet when England turned to Wyatt-Hodge for the Ashes showdown in June 2023 at Trent Bridge, she responded instantly. In just four Tests, she has accumulated 188 runs at 23.50, notching her maiden half-century (54 from 88) in the fourth innings of the game in her very first match in the Whites, a steely effort under pressure against Australia.

Danielle Wyatt-Hodge has been the heartbeat of England’s white-ball revolution: fearless, inventive, and relentlessly positive. Her sheer versatility, whether blazing a trail at the top, providing overs of off-spin, or inspiring with athleticism in the field, sets her apart. She has played a combined 300 internationals (178 T20Is, 118 ODIs, 4 Tests), a feat that ranks as a beacon for generations to come.

From her Mumbai debut in 2010 to her Edgbaston ovation in 2025, Wyatt-Hodge’s journey is a celebration of everything bold and beautiful about women’s cricket. As she takes the applause and looks ahead, one thing is certain: her story is far from over. She is the perpetual spark for England, lighting up the game since 2010.
