In a significant move ahead of the 2025–26 Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) season, seasoned cricketer Katie Mack has signed a two-year deal with the New South Wales (NSW) Breakers. The batter is set to return to her roots in Sydney. This follows the recent announcement of Ellyse Perry, set to return ahead of the season.

Mack began her cricketing journey within NSW’s rookie pathways. In 2012, Katie made her debut with Essex in England’s Women’s County Championship against Yorkshire and the following year, for Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Meteors in Australian domestic cricket. Momentarily, in the 2020/21 WNCL season, Mack became the third-highest run-scorer with 418 runs.
In January 2022, she was named in Australia’s A squad for their series against England A, with the matches being played alongside the Women’s Ashes. During her 12-season tenure with the Meteors, Mack became ACT’s highest run-scorer, amassing 3,698 runs, including five centuries. She also took on the role of captain in 2022, showcasing her leadership qualities. Katie thus established herself as one of the country’s leading domestic players.
“I’m excited to be back where my cricket career started – it feels like a full circle moment. I’ve played alongside a lot of the girls before, so it’ll be great to be teammates again,” said Mack, who is currently in England playing county cricket for Lancashire.
Mack is the second high profile addition to the Breakers’ squad for the upcoming season, following the return of Australian elite cricketer Ellyse Perry after six seasons with Victoria. While Perry’s availability will be limited due to international commitments, Katie is set to play a vital role in the Breakers’ title defense. At Breakers, Mack joins the recent Australia A representatives Tahlia Wilson and Anika Learoyd, the top order.
“It’s always special to welcome NSW players home, and having Katie in the sky blue is something we’re really excited about,” Leah Poulton, Head of Female Elite Cricket at Cricket NSW, said.
Mack’s return signifies not just a homecoming but also a strategic move for the Breakers. Notably, her contract with Adelaide Strikers in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is off.
