Mandhana wins the award after a brilliant year on the field. The former number 1 ranked ODI player, who just slipped to the second position, has been performing well on the field and winning matches for her team.

Mandhana thus becomes the third woman player to be named as the Cricketer of the Year. Mithali Raj and Deepti Sharma were the two other cricketers who have achieved this feat.

The awards also recognized Mayank Agarwal of India, who after a brilliant domestic season was picked up for the senior team in Tests and gave a stellar performance. The other cricketers from Asia to win this award are Dimuth Karunaratne (Sri Lanka), Fakhar Zaman (Pakistan) and Rashid Khan (Afghanistan).
