Danni Wyatt-Hodge, a longtime RCB fan, is finally living her dream of playing for the team in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. For Danni, this tournament is not just about showcasing her skills but also about representing the franchise she has supported for years, making her debut season even more special.

Although she was initially picked up by the UP Warriorz in the 2024 WPL auction, she didn’t get a chance to feature for the franchise. However, a trade in October brought her to RCB and she has since played four matches in WPL 2025, scoring 112 runs, including a crucial 57-run-knock against UP Warriorz, her former team.
Recently, RCB posted a video on their social media handles titled ‘Danni-Wyatt unfiltered’, featuring the English batter in a candid conversation. She is seen talking about her love for RCB, her friendship with Smriti Mandhana, experiencing fandom of this kind, a fun Virat Kohli tweet that went viral, and more.
Danni’s affection for RCB runs deep. “I have always been a fan of RCB more than the other teams,” she revealed. She further added that her admiration for the team stems from the star-studded line-up that has donned the RCB jersey over the years including the likes of Chris Gayle, AB De Villiers, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Virat Kohli.
She talked about the electric atmosphere created by RCB fans, saying “I just remember the crowd being so electric..even coming through the TV, it sounded amazing.” Wyatt recalled texting Mike Hesson, the former Director of Operations at RCB, asking him to arrange for RCB’s green jersey. She fondly remembers wearing the jersey and having it proudly displayed back at home.
Danni’s twitter archives hold a particularly amusing anecdote. In April 2014, she had tweeted, ‘Kohli, marry me’. Looking back, she clarifies that the tweet was meant in jest, blown out of proportion by the media. “I obviously didn’t mean it,” she laughs. “I was just in awe of Virat’s innings..it was a very special knock.”
She also praised Virat Kohli’s incredible batting skills, consistency and loyalty to RCB, noting that his impressive records speak for themselves and make him a joy to watch.
Talking about the love she receives from Indian fans, Wyatt cited an instance where a young boy traveled from Mumbai to Bengaluru just to watch her play, highlighted by Female Cricket.
She recalls her agent informing her that RCB was interested in her and about a month later when it was finalized, she was over the moon. “I was buzzing, I was so excited,” she says. She immediately shared the news with her wife and family. The prospect of playing at the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium in front of a lively crowd added to her excitement. Moreover, joining a winning team, fresh from their triumph previous year, only fueled her excitement.
She shared her first impressions of Smriti Mandhana, describing her as “pretty cool and calm,” although a bit reserved. She talked about sending a heartfelt message to her, thanking her and expressing her eagerness to share a cup of tea together.
She also talked about her first day at RCB and acknowledged the pressure of joining a new team. Wyatt humorously noted how fans at the boundaries shout her name, getting the pronunciation wrong.
Danni Wyatt Hodge has been an RCB fan for years, watching the men’s team and more recently, the women’s team. She says that representing them has been “an icing on the cake” for her.
As RCB faces Gujarat on Thursday, all eyes are on the talented batter to see how she performs under pressure.
