Nepal, who were yet to win a single match in the series, were already out of the race but had the chance to play as party-spoilers for Thailand.

However, the table toppers continued their memorable run, registering a comprehensive victory— their fifth of the tournament— at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Nepal batters couldn’t forge a partnership during their stay at crease as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Right arm off-break Onnicha Kamchomphu scalped three wickets while Suleeporn Laomi, Nattaya Boochatham and Chanida Sutthiruang were awarded with one wicket each. The hosts crawled to an underwhelming total of 81 for seven in the full quota of 20 overs, with opener Samjhana Khadka being the top scorer with 17 runs.

Chasing for the final time in the series, Thailand needed just one partnership to be declared as the champions. Thailand’s chase was a walk in the park as they scored runs without breaking a sweat.

Middle order batters Nannapat Koncharoenkai (23 off 32) and captain Naruemol Chaiwai (27* off 34) took the responsibility with the bat. Thailand reached home with 3 overs to spare and lost just 3 wickets in pursuit during the second innings.

Onnicha Kamchomphu of Thailand was deservedly named the Player of the Match for her spell of 3 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 3.75.
