Scotland will lock horns with 6 nations in pursuit of qualification for the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup in India, set to take place in October. The six teams- Bangladesh, West Indies, Pakistan, Ireland, Thailand and Scotland will battle for two spots to confirm their berth for the marquee 50-over event. The venue and fixtures for the qualifying tournament is yet to be announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC), while the games will be played between the 4th and 19th of April.

Before the commencement of the Qualifiers, the players will be ready to launch themselves in a warm-weather training block at Desert Springs in Spain in February.

Certain more details around the fixtures will be announced in due course of time as they are conditional around certain discussions among various concerned parties.

“Looking ahead to the Qualifier, the most exciting thing is the standard of cricket that we’re going to be playing at that tournament. The quality of opposition that we’ll face is going to be tremendous for us in terms of our learning and trying to test our skills against some of the best in the world, so we’re really looking forward to it”, said Craig Wallace, Scotland Women’s Head Coach.

Banking on the talent and caliber of his team, he added, “I’m confident we can produce some great performances against these teams. We know what qualifying tournaments are all about, it’s going to be an absolute dogfight, and everyone is capable of beating everyone, so we can’t wait to get out there and make our mark on it.”

Scotland has participated in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers three times and will compete for the fourth time in 2025. They made it to the qualifiers in 2003, 2008 and 2017 but could not make it to the main event. The qualifying rounds ended abruptly in 2021 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. While the records may portray shades of underperformance, the anticipating buzz for Scotland is not disappointing. They made it to the finals and secured the runners-up spot in the qualifying rounds of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024- therefore making it to the principal tournament.
