The seasoned 27-year-old all-rounder from Agra, Deepti Sharma has been a prominent contributor with the bat as well as with the ball in India’s remarkable success at the international level, since her international debut on 28th November 2014 at the age of 17 years and 96 days against South Africa in the 3rd ODI at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Notably, she returned with impressive match figures of 10-0-35-2 in her spell on her international debut.

Deepti was part of India’s squad that clinched a historic gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. They defeated Sri Lanka by 19 runs in the final to claim their maiden gold medal triumph at the Asian Games in 2023. Deepti Sharma picked up one wicket in a couple of innings with the ball and she didn’t get much of an opportunity with the bat courtesy of an impressive show from the Indian top order in the tournament.
Deepti also played a crucial part with the bat as well as with the ball for India in their silver medal triumph in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. She picked up four wickets in five innings and her best performance with the ball for India in the competition came on 29th July 2022 against Australia when she returned with impressive match figures of 4-0-24-2 in her spell in Birmingham. Besides her contribution with the ball, she also chipped in 70 runs at a decent strike rate of 120.68 in four innings with the bat for her side in the competition.
As a result of her impressive all-round contributions for India’s memorable and unique achievements, she was awarded by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath as he appointed her as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the UP Police in a felicitation ceremony.
“I always wanted to become a police officer. I know about the difficulty of the job but wanted to wear the uniform once. My parents also supported me that I should wear the uniform. My family and I are happy with this honour,” said Deepti Sharma in an interview with Deccan Herald, speaking about her dream of becoming a police officer.
Deepti took to social media to share images of her in uniform and expressed her delight in the caption, sharing, “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude as I achieve this milestone! I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my family, whose unwavering support and blessings have been my driving force. I’m also grateful to the Uttar Pradesh Government for this opportunity to serve. As I take on this new role as DSP in the Uttar Pradesh Police, I promise to dedicate myself fully to my duties and serve with integrity. Thank you all again for your support.”
She is currently the leading wicket-taker with the ball for India in the T20I format with 138 wickets at an impressive average of 19.14 and an economy of 6.04 in 121 innings, while also accumulating over 1000 runs. Her tally of wickets includes one four-wicket haul.
She is currently the 3rd highest wicket-taker for India in the ODI format with 130 wickets at an average of 26.73 and an economy of 4.17 in 100 innings, while also posting over 2000 runs. Her tally of wickets includes a couple of four wicket-hauls and three five wicket-hauls.
