The Australian Skipper, Alyssa Healy led Australia to their third consecutive ICC Women’s Championship title, cementing their dominance on the world stage. Australia claimed the title in its inaugural cycle (2014–2016), maintained their supremacy in the 2017–2020 edition under Meg Lanning’s leadership and continued their exemplary performance in the recently concluded 2022–2025 cycle, leading them to win their third consecutive title with 39 points from 24 matches.

The Australian side started off the ICC Women’s Championship with a 3-0 clean sweep against Pakistan in January 2023. Following this, the same year, they lost the ODI leg of the Ashes 2023 by 2-1 against England marking their first ODI series loss since 2013. Nonetheless, they were quick to bounce back, having won the series against Ireland and West Indies.

In February 2024, they defeated South Africa by 2-1 in the home series. Next up, in the Australian tour of Bangladesh, the hosts suffered a whitewash at the hands of Australia. They capped off the phenomenal year by series wins against both India and New Zealand. They then went on to win 3-0 against England, bringing their tally to 39 points.

Reflecting on their performance in the last cycle, Alyssa Healy remarked, “The last cycle was a really exciting one. Coming down to the last couple of series to see who would win the trophy was really cool. For us to put in a good couple of performances in those series and get us over the line was really important, so the girls are really excited about winning this trophy and hopefully it’s good vibes for the next cycle as well.”

But now, Australia is seeking to put the icing on the cake, as we approach the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup later this year. “We’ve played some really consistent one-day cricket over the last cycle, so the girls are really pumped about wrapping that up,” Healy said.

The tournament, which brings together the best teams and the most competitive cricket, is the perfect platform for Australia’s dominant side to extend their winning streak.

“It’s really exciting. The group are really buoyed by that as well, to know that yes, we are playing good cricket – but it’s a World Cup, and we know that there are going to be a lot of other teams vying for that trophy, so we’re excited to get over there and get started,” Healy said, highlighting the competitive nature of the tournament.
