Here’s the story about the much-hyped scorecard, which took the internet by storm lately. Shania-Lee Swart who soon became a household name within the cricket fraternity, given the unfamiliar feat achieved by this young 19-year-old South African girl. Inevitably, this scorecard did raise eyebrows as nobody bothered to believe it initially. But soon it was all over the news and people were left with not much at their disposal.
Shania-Lee Swart who came to open the innings must have had very little in her mind. But this normal day match had something more to offer. Wickets kept tumbling at one side and Shania-Lee Swart dumbstruck could only watch players going back on duck. She, however, went all guns blazing with the bat as she lofted 30 boundaries (18 4s and 12 6s) to seal her career best 160 not out.
Nobody, other than Shania-Lee Swart could manage a single run, evidence in the picture below.
You would be surprised to know few more records which were conquered by Shania-Lee Swart.
Swart’s knock was the third-best score in Twenty20s after Chris Gayle’s 175 in 2013 and Zimbabwe’s Hamilton Masakadza’s 162 in 2016. Her knock featured 18 fours and 12 sixes, which meant she blasted 144 runs in boundaries alone.
Swart was not done. She picked up 2/21 in four overs as Mpumalanga defeated Easterns by 42 runs to clinch the victory. For the Eastern’s team, they were ‘Swart’ed away by a single-handed show of dominance.
