Namibian cricketer Sune Wittmann has announced her engagement to Christel Kotze, sharing the joyful news on social media.
Sunne Wittmann, 29, took to Instagram to reveal her engagement to her best friend, expressing her happiness in a heartfelt caption, “I said YES to my best friend, my partner, my forever. Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, and pinky promises we’ll never break.”
The couple’s announcement was met with an outpouring of love and congratulations from fans and the sporting community.
Wittmann is a Namibian all-rounder who made her T20I debut in the year 2019. The medium-pace bowler and impactful batter has played 69 T20I matches, amassing nearly 1,200 runs and claiming 46 wickets.
She is the second-leading run-scorer in the T20I format for Namibia and one of only two Namibian players to surpass 1,000 runs in T20Is. She also holds the record for the highest individual score for her national side, an unbeaten 93 against Botswana in 2021. Additionally, she also boasts the second-best bowling figures for Namibia, with an impressive 5/10 against Uganda in 2022.
Christel Janet Kotze, commonly known as CJ, is a prominent figure in Namibian rugby, and she is celebrated for her diverse contributions as a player, coach, and media professional. In 2014, she was part of Namibia’s inaugural national women’s rugby team that competed in Kenya.
Despite facing significant challenges, including two knee surgeries between 2015 and 2017, Kotze transitioned into coaching and earned a Level 2 coaching certificate in Sevens rugby. Her passion for the sport extends into media, where she serves as a producer for “Absolute Rugby,” a show on Namibia’s national broadcaster, NBC, promoting the sport and sharing her expertise.
